This was sewn years ago as my very first sewing personal sewing project a couple of years after my uncle picked on me for my old lady appearance in my early twenties; my old camera couldn't handle the reflective properties, only just managed to photograph properly now with a better camera. The bag seemed a little boring, so embellished it with a sprig of flowers; I was really into the whole East Asian culture of cherry blossom viewing and had a thing for them at the time. The bag isn't used that often, mostly during the Chinese New Year period, as cherry and plum blossoms are representative of the new year in most East Asian cultures.
Flowers were all individually cut from circles of acrylic felt with seed bead centres detail and hand sewn with metallic gold thread. Branches of gold wrapping elastic stitched down with more metallic thread; finished of with peach plastic pearl beads as buds and green bugle beads as leaves.
